I'm such a post slacker.

Went to Spooky Empire this weekend and although it was chaotically lovely - I'm stoked to be home. I had the chance to test run my Bride of Frankenstein costume to pretty good reviews. The B&W Horror group was AMAZING - and we all plan on revamping, re-doing paint jobs - and testing it out again at D*C or Mayhem next year (BRUCE CAMPBELL FIX YESSSS).

I spent most of the con helping finish up TJ's Werewolf. Won 3rd place in the costume contest - he scored himself some cash I am now the proud owner of a NOTLD Cemetery Zombie Dean electric guitar. No complaints here :) Except that if I find one more brown furball in my carpet I may just snap. True story.

I'll throw up some wolf pictures later. :)

I did however get to snag some time with ~MR-PHiLL and ~demmigoddess and thats all sorts of love.

The rest of the month ahead involves endless horror fun times, witch's balls, costuming, trick 'r treatness and tons of spooky parties and gatherings. BEST.MONTH.EVER? Quite.

ps. On a horror-related note, a couple of girlfriends and I started a female run and written horror blog entitled - GoresTruly.

Check it out @ www.gorestruly.com.

If you feel so inclined click on "Meg" under authors - and check out some of my posts. Particularly the "Zombies Were People Too" one. Love to hear your opinions.

..but on the cellular level I'm really quite busy :)

I fail at updating things. Currently working on a Fem-Thor, and Marvel's Valkyrie for D*C. Update pictures soon - especially ones of the boobs-o'-justice.

Hope ya'll had a rocking Free Comic Book Day. I was out at Coliseum of Comics with Costumers With a Cause - doing a fundraiser for BASE Camp - and ended up at Arnold Palmer Children's Hospital playing with the kidlets. Now they're the REAL heroes.

Doing great in school - working out - saving up to move here in the next two months, and spending a ridiculous amount of time watching crap-horror flicks with friends. I are happy Buddha :)

ps. Decided up start uploading my writings here soon. So if you subscribed to me - my bad. You don't have to real my drivel.

pps. I wanna play with pictures! Anyone local to Daytona have a camera? :)

Review of the past two months:

Yay for resolutions! Stickin' to 'em. In honor of trying new things - I decided I needed to learn how to handle a firearm. I do not believe in guns - nor will I ever own one. But its better to be knowledgeable than ignorant if a situation ever arrises (IE: Zombie apocalypse).

hphotos-snc3.fbcdn.net/hs141.s…

^ The gang at the gun range. Real gun - real ammo. I'm not to shabby of a shot - but not to good either. However, put a zombie target in front of me - 5 out of 5 head shots. (Notice the trekkie ball cap and shirt. Resistance is futile.)

And Megacon is approaching - thus costuming has been nuts lately. Lets recap.

I've worked on a few outfits - firstly my mermaid (for my "enchanted figurehead" position at Bay Area Ren Faire on pirate weekend - and a scurvylicious birthday bash for a friend)..

and secondly - helping rebuild the wolfman for the premiere. It needed stilts, and a lots of patching up from its debut at Spooky Empire this past October.

By and by - If you haven't seen the movie yet - you really should. But only if you're expecting a beautiful homage to the original. Stunning scenery, enchanting moods, interesting expanded character development - and a little gore. But the gore is not the focal point of the movie, so expect it - but do not expect the lens to dwindle on it. Some slight twists from the original telling - and to much CGI for my tastes, but alas a great flick. I'm readily looking forward to Creature from the Black Lagoon now.

Moving on..

- lemme spy on your future..

- New stilts complete it.

- Make up artists get no respect.

The premiere went off lovely. We built a tent - we read some palms, the wolfman scared the crap outta' grown people. Awesome.

So next up is rebuilding Aquaman. /face-palm

Four weeks to pull it off 'til Megacon. Hope to see some of you cats there :) You'll find me eye-raping Jordie & Data from Trek.

Oh - and some side good news? Looks like I may be doing Live Action HeroClix at Gencon again this year. So if anyone wants to get down on some Magic the Gathering, holler :)

I hope everyone had a simply amazing holiday ;) Whichever ones you choose to celebrate. I hosted my first Christmas Dinner to much success! So +10 to my cooking XP.

I'm also not so-big on presents for myself - but I do plan on treating myself to a belated holly-jolly-awesomness that is the Aquaman hoodie. HAVE YOU SEEN IT!? Amazing.

I don't update this much - but 2010 may change that. I have a few costumes in planning...

* Silver Surfer: Female version. Already have one of my surfboards painted all silvery ;D Megacon 2010.

* Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle: Feminized. Michelangelo or Donatello. D*C 2010.

*Cheetara - Thundercats HOOOO!

I also have three others I REALLY want to do (Callisto from Xena for example) - but sadly may hold off.

And to the whole reason for this post - some of my resolutions. I find that if I actually make them public, I tend to stick to them more. So here we go...

1. Re-seek out my natural love. Start making my own perfume/wash/etc again. Spend more time in nature. This year was a good year - but its been awhile since I meditated on the beach. I need to rediscover that, and while doing so...

2. Rediscover myself. Learn to love myself a little more. Faults and all. This may take more than one year - as I expect it to. But you know what? I owe it to myself.

3. Pay off credit card debt. Or at least, pay off as much as possible. In doing so - purchase or continue saving for Augmentation. It is a present for myself, and no one else. For those who don't know - I'm currently working on my Doctorates. As of now - I'm a Masters student. So debt? I has it :)

4. Move to Orlando in July/Embark on Career Path. I need to leave Daytona. Turn my back on the beach I love so much - and embrace a fiscally secure future.

5. Take dancing lessons. I'm thinking Swing or Ball room. At least look into it. Right now I am a master of only the snoopy-happy-dance. But its something no?

6. Write/Read more. Where is my muse? I will find him/her/it this year. I will. I have a book to write. Four years in the making. And I will make it happen - or at least make a conscious effort to make progress on it.

7. Monthly horror movie marathons. My life needs more of these.

8. Love more. Because the heart, mind and soul - know no boundaries.

Summary of this weekend: HAWT DAMN!

Firstly - because I was literally sweating my metaphorical balls off. Anyone who went to spooky last year knew has awesomly cold it was. This year? Yeah. Not so much. I had a blast - I got to rock four costumes (Ash Friday Night, Reanimator Saturday day - Werewolf Women of the SS for the stunt show - and Freddy Saturday night) - and meet some awesome folks.

Downsides:

1. The damn heat. I looked like a hot mess in the Reanimator costume. Ah well :/ I'll redo it again soon - and fix the severed head. Only 5 people knew who I was :/ You sadden me horror fans. Sadden me.

2. Broke my chainsaw :/ But lent it to a friend for his upcoming photo shoot - and he promised to fix it. Bonus?

3. Not enough time. The Stuntshow stole my entire saturday. I missed hangage with good people - but it was still hella fun.

Upsides:

1. mr-phill.deviantart.com/ Did a female ash picture (and blond!). Love that dood :D

2. Laughs. Lots o' lots of laughs - and horror quotage. LOVE.

3. Stuntshow was a hit.

4. JOHN LANDIS!!!!!! /dies

5. Started my spooky off with Halloween Horror Nights. THEY HAVE ASH AND PIT WITCH LOVE! I squeed and screamed myself silly. Hence the hoarse voice this weekend. Sounding like Fran Drescher = FAIL.

An amazing weekend. Can't wait for next year ;)

~~~~~~~~~~~
A side note: partaking in my Halloween Horror Movie Thon. I'd review them all here but I doubt you'd care - however, I've been reminded that William Shatner took acting lessons from Bella Lugosi, renewed my love of Vincent Price, fell in swoon with Trick r' Treat and Zombie Land, and discovered that the japanese have a godzilla-Frankenstein. WIN.
~~~~~~~~~~~

Costume Info:

1. The wolfman was created by TJ and I - fur and foam were glued and hand sewn onto an under shirt and pants, with his costume layered above it. Some of the make up was done at home - and then the awesome people at Evil Fire Lizard did a bang-up job on it pre-stunt show. His fur was glued to his face via spirit gum (bad idea - next time, super glue), and his teeth were made by our friend Skully.

2. Frankie's head was a modded Boris Karloff mask, spirit gummed (again, bad idea) down, and painted by the Evil Fire Lizard Folks. His shirt and shoulders used foam padding.

3. Dr. Carl Hill's head was a modded John Kerry Mask. Stuffed with fabric and super glued down to a baking pan - filled with paint and stage blood. His eyes are made outta' bouncy balls :D Needs a lot of work.

4. Freddy's skin done via liquid latex and cream paint. Totally not fun to peel off.
